Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Mary Keria. Welcome to my event planning blog, The Merry Events Company! I'm 32, a Christian, Austin's mummy, a partner, a daughter and a natural planner. I'm based in Nairobi and Nyeri and I love the beautiful madness that is event planning! My goal is to use this blog as a platform to share budget friendly ideas on event planning and to show case the talents of budding service providers in the event planning industry such as photography, videography, unique venues, makeup artists, caterers, emceeing and sound services among others.
I've answered 20 questions below so you can get to know me a little better, enjoy!
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yes my paternal grandmother.
2. Do you have any siblings?
Yes, a brother and three sisters.
3. Where did you grow up?
Port Reitz (Potrizi kwa machizi!), Mombasa County
4. Where did you go to college?
Catholic University. (Team CUEA mpo?)
5. What did you study in college?
Sociology!
6. What was your first job out of college?
Shipping line customer service executive.
7. What kind of music do you like?
Afro pop! I love to dance!
8. What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
A lawyer like the witty/dramatic ones in The Practice & Ally McBeal, lol!
9. What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
The Merry Events Company!
10. Do you have any irrational fears?
When I'm in a mat (public transport) I always get anxious that they'll pass my stage! Oh and that I'll forget my change! I think both are very rational fears though!
11. Have you ever traveled outside the country? If so, where?
Yes! Kampala, Dubai, New York, Los Angeles.
13. What’s one talent that you wish you had?
I wish I could sing like young Whitney Houston. And Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
14. What’s something that you wish you could do one more time?
Spend more time with friends and family who died way too young.
15. What is the least favourite thing about yourself?
I can hold a grudge longer than necessary.
16. How would you describe your fashion sense?
Edgy, chic, comfortable.
17. What accomplishment are you most proud of?
My baby boy Austin! He's such a happy, boisterous and loving child! Plus he's so so cute!
18. Who would play you in a movie about your life? Patricia Kihoro aka Proca. She's so talented.
19. 3 things that make you happy?
My family & friends, breathtaking views, fruit and nut cadburys chocolate.
20. Who/What inspired you to start this blog?
My son Austin! I have always loved planning events, and when I became a mum I vowed to pursue my passions. By doing this I believe I'm setting a great example for him to follow in the pursuit of his dreams, and use his God-given talents to serve those around him.
